Certification Responsibility

The New Brunswick Department of Education has jurisdiction over teacher certification. Through the NB Office of Teacher Certification teachers are certified to teach in NB and awarded the appropriate certificate level, based on university qualifications.

To Contact the NB Office of Teacher Certification:
Mail: PO. Box 6000, Fredericton, NB, E3B 5H1
    Tel: 1-506-453-2785
    Fax: 1-506-444-4761
    Email: teachercertification@gnb.ca

The Registrar for teacher certification must evaluate your credentials and issue the certificate.

The certification standards are unique for each province in Canada, so it is important for teachers to contact each provincial governing body for details of the requirements for that province. For a list of contact emails for certification authorities in other Canadian Provinces click here.
